WATER FOR LIFE

With millions living in poverty, the humanitarian crisis in Africa is overwhelming. The greatest need among the poor is for safe, clean drinking water...because without clean water there is no future...no life.

The statistics are startling:

  • The United Nations reports that unclean water results in almost 2 million children's deaths each year.
  • That's more than 5,000 children everyday!
  • Unclean water leads to death by cholera, relentless diarrhea, fever, sickness, and other waterborne disease for thousands of others.
  • Bad water is the "silent killer" in the world today. Although it doesn't get the media coverage of wars and natural disasters, it is responsible for more deaths each year than global conflict.

LIFE Outreach in determined to help give children a chance to live in health. Wherever water wells are drilled, there is new life! As new life begins in these places, hope spreads from family to family, village to village as we work in country after country. You have the opportunity to change lives! Four dollars and eighty cents. That's all it takes to provide water for a lifetime to someone in need. For less than the cost of a Combo meal at a fast food restaurant you can supply fresh, life-giving water to someone in need. When a village has a clean water source, there is an immediate decrease in disease. Communities also become self-sufficient as they grow gardens and contribute to the economic health of their community. Please join with us to bring this Living Water to thirsty souls.

UPDATE:
Water for LIFE, March 6, 2006

Our mission partners in Africa, under the direction of Peter Pretorius, completed their year-end report for 2005. The Water for LIFE goal was to drill 150 new water wells in the most desperate areas of Africa, including Sudan. By the end of the year, 152 new wells had been drilled! The five-year total (2000-2005) for Africa is now 923 new wells, providing fresh, clean water to hundreds of thousands of people.

Though we are making a huge difference in the lives of many people, 56% of the rural communities still do not have access to safe drinking water. Coverage in Africa of sanitation for people is a mere 36%, which creates huge challenges for health and normal living conditions. Your ongoing support in the Water for LIFE campaign continues to help save lives.
